Services and Guarantees
There are two types of Alpaca, Huacaya and Suri's. Spring Lake Alpacas only breed Huacaya, although we board both. Huacaya have shorter, dense, crimpy fleece which appears to be wooly. Suri's have long fibers, that form silky, pencil-like locks.
You can maintain 5-10 alpaca per acre. We recommend 5-6 per acre for better pasture nutrition and pest control.
Alpaca do not have top teeth. Their feet are padded with a nail around the pad. They are gentle and easy to handle. They typically live for up to 30 years with breeding ages between 2 to 17 years.

Do you want to own alpaca but don't have any land or facilities for them?
Spring Lake Alpacas can board your alpaca for $2.00 per day per animal. All vetrinarian costs are additional.
How do you know if you are choosing the right alpaca for you? Are they healthy animals?
Spring Lake Alpacas offers only quality, healthy animals to potential buyers. Before an animal's ownership is transferred, a pre-purchase veterinarian exam is performed on the animal(s). The vet performing the exam is chosen by the purchaser. All alpaca have been registered with ARI and are required to have a DNA test to become registered. This protects Spring Lake Alpacas, the new buyer, and the animal(s).
If you buy a stud from Spring Lake Alpacas, how do you know if he is fertile?
When buying a stud you are notified if he is proven, with cria on the ground, or unproven. If unproven, Spring Lake Alpacas guarantees his fertility or will buy the animal back from the purchaser, or replace with a similiar alpaca.
When buying a pregnant female, how do you know if the cria will be born alive?
Spring Lake Alpacas offers guarantees for a live birth. If for some reason a pregnant female does not have a live birth, Spring Lake Alpacas will offer a free stud to one of our herdsires.
Are you confused about all the paperwork when buying and transporting alpacas?
When you purchase alpacas from Spring Lake Alpacas, we handle all the paperwork for their purchase and transportation. We can even handle your transportation within the Southeastern U.S. For transportations outside the Southeastern region, we will make all the arrangements or give the buyer a list of transporters that have been used in the past.
Spring Lake Alpacas offers free boarding to all animals purchased until transportation.
